The enthusiasm hasn’t lessened while preparing this year’s brochure and learning from previous years’ experience—great teamwork took effect. Only the films can be better than the 2024 catalogue of Budapest Architectural Film Days.

Self and Scope is comin’ to town, and it’s a great thing, especially because I had the opportunity to create the written content on it. I was honoured to write about the peculiar family house by FOND Stúdió, which, in the whirlwind of the many dynamics, interests and tastes of the Budapest agglomeration, votes for local traditions and the long-term good. “Kis lépték, nagy törődés” (‘Small scale, great care’) – my first publication on the well-known Hungarian architectural site.

My visit to the architect couple in a house without a door led to one of my favourite ‘Deco’ conversations. A hundred-year-old house meets an iconic district of Budapest with the provocative yet easy and worthy ideas of a 21st-century family. Proceed to article here (Hun).

My social media copy for Manka on their handmade doxie-themed products became part of the 2023 advent campaign again, following last year’s success. It was an honour and an exciting challenge to create attractive content adapting the unique and carefully maintained style on the Manka platforms, referring to the Dachs-fensive Alliance between owners and dogs here. My article about a Jászberény one-family dwelling by Nirmana Architecture Office came out in July 2023 in the print version of Octogon Deco (in Hun). I spent about an hour spotting the roof on Google Maps to understand its layout inspired by local vernacular architecture. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I submitted the Hungarian dialogue list for the last episode of Rock the Block Season 4 this week, which I had the opportunity to translate in full. By my mission to improve the voiceovers of similar reality series, I tried my best to find creative ways to convert names of spaces and categories unfamiliar to European or Hungarian interior design traditions. Budapesti Építészeti Filmnapok (BAFF) celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2023, and I had a great time managing the texts of the festival catalogue the second time. Being a great fan of the event, I felt very honoured.

My article on the renewed top floor of the Constitutional Court of Hungary came out in the 2022/8 issue of OCTOGON magazine. When writing it, I looked into the history of the building, the privatisation craze of the 90s and the contemporary use of U-glass panels. Available in Hungarian, the designers of Ginkgo Architects told me about the challenges: ‘Level of Transparency’.
